A Timeless Northwoods Celebration in Rhinelander, Wisconsin
A Holiday Acres Resort wedding is the perfect blend of Northwoods beauty, family tradition, and lakeside celebration, and Kelly and Aaron’s wedding day in Rhinelander, Wisconsin brought all of those elements together beautifully.
Some wedding days are memorable because of the details. Others are memorable because of the traditions they honor. Kelly and Aaron’s wedding day was both.
Filled with family, faith, and love of a Northwoods setting, their early autumn wedding was a beautiful reflection of the people they are and the values they hold close.
The day began at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Rhinelander, where family and friends gathered to witness Kelly and Aaron exchange vows surrounded by the traditions of their Catholic faith.
There is something especially meaningful about a church wedding. The beauty of the ceremony isn’t found in elaborate details but in the commitment being made. The atmosphere felt sacred, joyful, and filled with anticipation as loved ones gathered to celebrate this new chapter in Kelly and Aaron’s lives.
One of the most touching parts of the day was Kelly’s wedding gown.
For the ceremony, she wore her grandmother’s wedding dress—a treasured family heirloom that has now been worn by five women in her family. Knowing the history behind that gown made every photograph feel even more meaningful. It wasn’t simply a dress; it was a beautiful reminder of generations of love, commitment, and family connection.
Meanwhile, Aaron brought his own sense of style to the day, wearing a sophisticated muted green suit that complemented the Northwoods setting perfectly.
One detail that immediately stood out was the vintage car that transported Aaron and his groomsmen to the ceremony.
It was a fun and stylish nod to the timeless feel of the day and fit beautifully alongside the family traditions woven throughout the celebration.
The bridesmaids wore coordinating green floral dresses, each with its own unique style. Combined with the white and green florals, the overall look felt fresh, elegant, and perfectly suited to an early autumn wedding in Northern Wisconsin.
After the ceremony, guests made their way to Holiday Acres Resort on Lake Thompson for cocktail hour & the dinner reception.
A Holiday Acres Resort wedding offers couples one of the most beautiful lakeside settings in Rhinelander. Nestled among pines and cabins overlooking the water, the resort captures everything people love about the Northwoods.
With approximately 140 family members and friends in attendance, the celebration felt lively while still maintaining the warmth and connection that made the day so special.
One thing I always strive to help couples with is creating a timeline that allows them to fully enjoy their wedding day. Throughout the planning process, we worked together to create a schedule that gave Kelly and Aaron plenty of time with their guests while still allowing space for portraits, family photographs, and quiet moments together.
Following the ceremony, Kelly changed into a second dress for portrait around the resort and the reception.
The change gave us the opportunity to create two completely different looks throughout the day while preserving her family’s treasured heirloom gown.
As the afternoon light softened over Lake Julia, we explored the grounds of Holiday Acres Resort for portraits. The first hints of autumn color were beginning to appear, adding beautiful warmth to the landscape.
One of my favorite moments from the entire day happened when we took wedding portraits in a treasured wooden canoe they brought with them, especially for this time together during golden hour.
For a couple who loves the outdoors and the Northwoods lifestyle, it felt like the perfect reflection of who they are. The images captured on the water are some of my favorites from the day and beautifully showcase the unique charm of a Holiday Acres Resort wedding.
As cocktail hour unfolded on the patio overlooking the grounds, under strings of lights, guests gathered to enjoy the beautiful weather, reconnect with family and friends, and celebrate the newlyweds.
The evening carried that classic Northwoods resort atmosphere that makes Holiday Acres so special. Between the lakeside views, the warm hospitality, and the joy shared among loved ones, every part of the celebration felt genuine and heartfelt.
What stood out most wasn’t any single detail, but rather the way the entire day reflected Kelly and Aaron’s priorities—family, faith, friendship, and spending time with the people they love most.
It takes an incredible team of wedding professionals to bring a wedding day vision to life, and Kelly and Aaron were surrounded by some wonderful vendors.
