Heather & Jon | Rib Mountain State Park Wedding

I knew Heather and Jon’s wedding day was going to be centered around their love for the outdoors the day I met them for their engagement session last fall. They are avid explorers and aficionados of nature, and their ceremony location did not disappoint. Friends and family filled the site at the top of Rib Mountain, overlooking the city of Wausau and valley beyond. It was a blue-sky day, full of sunshine and beautiful clouds. One of the unique parts of their ceremony was the tree planting. They planted a small try with soil from their respective homes to symbolize the joining of their families and establishing their relationship as a married couple.  The cocktail hour and reception were hosted just a quick drive down the mountain in The Sundance Chalet at Granite Peak Ski Area.  The views of Rib Mountain were displayed with floor to ceiling windows and an outdoor patio, complete with a sitting area, outdoor bar, and fire feature.  The nature theme of the ceremony continued inside with pinecone place cards, cross sections of tree trunks and branches for the cake display and table centerpieces. The guest favors included unique planted succulents.  Following a lovely dinner, guests were treated to an indoor s’mores bar… because who doesn’t love a good campfire s’more? As the sunset behind Rib Mountain, we snuck away for some evening photos before the first dance. Guests joined the beautiful couple on the dance floor and the evening culminated in a joyful sparkler celebration. – Heather and Jon! Congratulations!
